Facebook has a network effect, with each user that joins, it becomes more valuable. People expect that Facebook will keep its users engaged for a while to come, which adds even more value when a business integrates with Facebook. Before, you could comment and like a page on Facebook – but now you can take a post from your Facebook page and embed it into your website so people can like and comment directly on the blog.
Embedded posts are what they call a ‘Social Plugin’. They will add meaningful value to your business’ Facebook page. With embedded posts, your business can get all of the same social interaction you would typically expect from a post on your Facebook page, now on your website.
“Embedded Posts let people add public posts from Facebook to their blog or website. When embedded, posts can include pictures, videos, hashtags and other content. People can also like and share the post directly from the embed,” Facebook announced.
To embed a post, first check if the post is public on Facebook by going to your business page and hovering over the audience selector (you’ll see a globe icon). Only public posts from Facebook Pages and profiles can be embedded. If you’re a business, you would probably want to limit or eliminate your Facebook privacy anyway.
To check if the post is public, look at the small icon next to the post’s date at the top of the post. If you see a globe icon, that means the post is public. An ‘embed’ option lives under a small arrow besides the post on the homepage, which will allow you to copy the HTML code and paste it into your website.
The easiest way to get started with a Facebook Platform on your website is to use Social Plugins. The plugins are embeddable social features that can be integrated in your site with just a few lines of HTML.
Because they are hosted by Facebook, the plugins are personalized for everyone who is currently logged onto Facebook, even if they are visiting your site for the first time. These strategies will allow your users to interact with your business, increasing engagement.
Facebook can also help you measure your success. As the Embedding feature drives more users to your site, you can analyze and gain valuable insight into the consumer preferences, likes, and trends.
By understanding and analyzing trends about usage and demographics as well as consumption and creation of content, you can optimize your Facebook integration.
Embedding a post:
Choose ‘Embed Post’ from the drop down menu that appears. You will see a dialog appear with the code to embed your post in it:
Copy and paste this code into your web page in the place where you want it to appear.
The code in the Embedded Post dialog includes a snippet which inserts the Facebook SDK for JavaScript into your web page. If you already include this snippet elsewhere on your page, you can remove it if you wish, although it will not cause any issues if included twice.
