LinkedIn collaborative articles are a novel way for the LinkedIn community to both learn from experts and contribute as experts on topics that range from general knowledge to more specific issues.

These articles begin by utilizing AI, as AI provides a conversation starter that creates the foundation for the discussion. The discussion is then expanded by the LinkedIn community, experts who are invited, based on their skills and experience, to showcase their expertise.

The concept of collaborative articles is based on the idea that it’s easier to join a conversation than start one anew and strives to bring together varying perspectives to round out insight, convey information, and examine ideas from different angles.

How Do LinkedIn Members Contribute?

As mentioned above, collaborative articles are invite-only. This assures that those contributing have the knowledge to make the articles helpful and factual. LinkedIn chooses invitees based on their fields, work histories, the skills listed on their profiles, and how often they engage on the platform by liking and/or reacting to articles. Contributors must also adhere to LinkedIn’s user agreement and community policies, and contribute information that’s relevant and original.

Is AI Reliable?

While LinkedIn collaborative articles have generated excitement among many users, others are skeptical partly due to the unreliability of AI and its propensity to produce error-prone material. But AI isn’t sharing its expertise; it’s merely getting the ball rolling. The articles are written by people, allowing the technological and human worlds to work together.

The end result is a new way to offer inspiration.
