TikTok gives video content creators all sorts of power, but it comes with an important caveat. You could throw together a clip that, in your opinion, rivals Scorsese. Yet if no one sees it, it doesn’t count. That’s why knowing how to optimize your video so it’ll get noticed is so important. Consider the following tips:

Set Content Pillars

Content pillars are effectively the boundaries your TikTok video falls within. For a video to be a success, these pillars must be solid and well-defined. People who don’t define these pillars tend to over-focus on their product or service, producing the same types of content over and over again until followers stop following. Define your pillars by homing in on what your customers are concerned about and looking for. This will help you discover recurrent themes and generate new ideas on how to make a splash.

Do Research

To generate new video ideas, conduct research based on your target audience. Use your customer keywords (such as parents, pet owners, or music lovers), to search TikTok and locate competitor videos that may provide some inspiration. The “other searched for” suggestions can also provide a treasure trove of ideas, offering related keywords to further explore. Focus on Maximum Discoverability

TikTok videos must be created with maximum discoverability in mind. There are several ways to ensure this, including:

  • Crafting a strong hook. People tend to decide within the first few seconds whether they’ll watch a video. Therefore, a strong hook is your best chance of drawing people in. Be sure that your hook includes keywords and quickly explains what your video is about.
  • Offering value. Videos that are the most successful are the ones that offer value to the consumer. This can look like useful tips and tricks, how-to info, or industry insight. Videos that are comedic work, as well. Entertainment value is valuable!
  • Creating a call to action. A call to action gives your customers guidance on the next steps to take. This can take them to your website or ask them to contact you; it can be a direct sell or a soft one.

Optimize the Metadata

Once your video is created, optimizing the metadata dramatically increases the odds that your video will be seen. To help your creation discover its potential, write an engaging title, incorporate alluring keywords, include an overlay and closed captioning, and add hashtags.

TikTok is an effective marketing platform, but its immense popularity means that it comes with plenty of competition. These tips should bring more awareness to your videos, get them shared, and turned into profit.
