Many social media users are looking for suitable alternatives with TikTok’s future uncertain. Neptune, an up-and-coming platform, can fill the void a TikTok ban might leave behind. Read on to learn what you need to know about Neptune and how you can sign up.
What is Neptune?
Neptune is a new social media app with a novel approach to the traditional social media algorithm. It allows users to customize the app’s rules and tailor calculations to their preferred experiences (something apps like YouTube and TikTok don’t allow). Neptune also favors ghost metrics, which means it does not showcase specific profiles but prioritizes quality. This provides an even playing field for people who don’t have tons of followers.
How Do Users Sign Up?
Neptune has not yet launched, but those interested can sign up to become beta-testers. This requires the following steps:
- Sign up on the Google Waitlist
- Join Discord: You must join the Neptune Discord to use Neptune
- On Discord, enter your username, birthdate, email, and password
- Click on the Neptune logo and answer some questions about yourself
- On the “Welcome” channel, tailor your account to your likings and preferences (you can explore pre-made channels to get an idea of what you like)
- Reserve your handle (if desired) through the FAQ page; this allows you to pick your Neptune username before it gets too popular
- Return to the Google form; once you’ve set up your Discord account, finish filling out the Google form and hit submit to officially join the waitlist (if selected, you’ll be notified)
Is Neptune Free?
Yes. Becoming a Neptune beta-tester is free, and using the app once it is out is also free.
When Will Neptune Launch?
While there is no hard launch date yet (which likely depends on what is discovered during beta testing), Neptune is set to come out sometime in Spring 2025. If you have any questions about this platform or anything else, give us a shout; we’ll be happy to help.
