Snapchat Geofilters

Make your next event memorable with a high-tech personal touch. A great way to personalize your upcoming wedding or holiday party is with a custom Snapchat Geofilter.

What is a Snapchat Geofilter?

Snapchat allows you to add graphics to photos and videos that are related to a specific location. Users can see what filter options are available in their area by taking a picture or recording a video, pressing and holding the center of the image, and then swiping across the screen. Geofilters began as a fun way to customize images taken in a specific neighborhood or city, similar to a digital postcard. You can select from filters created by Snapchat, as well as those that have been submitted by other users in the community.

Now Snapchat is allowing users and businesses to upload their own original Geofilters in a new, paid service called On-Demand Geofilters. This allows you to create custom filters for special occasions like parties, weddings, open houses, conferences, and more. After you create the design, you’ll select the location parameters where the filter will be available to users, and designate a time period.

Customize Your Event With On-Demand Geofilters

An On-Demand Geofilter is a great tool to add your own personalized touch to your guests’ photos from your next special event. Once your guests share a video or photo to Snapchat, they will see your custom design as a filter option. So long as you adhere to Snapchat’s Geofilter Terms and Conditions, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination. Spice up photos snapped at your wedding by including your color scheme, wedding date, and the name of the bride and groom in your filter. Planning a holiday party this winter? Hang some digital mistletoe on the pics taken at your party!

Snapchat Spectacles

Snapchat has announced a new accessory: a wearable camera that is shaped like a pair of sunglasses. The device gives you the ability to capture images and videos from a first-person perspective. One look, and you can see that Snapchat Spectacles stand apart from other popular wearable tech on the market. They look more like a pair of shades you’d wear to a New Years Eve party than the clean, techie look of the Apple Watch and Google Glass.

How do Snapchat Spectacles work?

News about the specs has been slowly coming out. The camera will be operated with a button on left side of frame, and pushing it will capture a 10-second video. There will also be a 30-second video option. The glasses have a unique circular aspect ratio that allows both portrait and landscape images. The pics will sync to your phone via WiFi and Bluetooth, and they will show up in your Snapchat memories. You can also save and store images directly in local memory of the glasses. Snapchat Spectacles will work with both iOS and Android devices, and will be available in red, blue, and black. Snapchat Spectacles have not yet been released, but the company has said they will be available sometime this fall with plenty of time for the holiday season.

Snapchat Geofilters for Businesses

Aside from personalizing your events, use custom Geofilters to grab consumer attention around the opening of a new business or other promotions. You’ll find less competition on this channel than on other traditional social media platforms, because this feature has only been available for less than a year and is still a relative mystery to many business owners.
