In today’s world, TikTok is everywhere. Video didn’t just kill the radio star, it took over the internet. But while the platform has long focused on the visual, with TikToks that showcase everything from parenting hacks to dance moves, it’s opening its virtual arms to audio, as well.

In fact, rumor has it that TikTok is quickly moving into audio and it’s not stopping at music; it’s embracing podcasts, too. Industry insiders believe that TikTok isn’t gearing up to secure a spot in Spotify or take a bite out of Apple; it’s going all in and launching its own podcast app.

Per Podnews, speculation began when Audiomeans, a podcasting hosting company, noticed a new bot scraping its feeds and traced it back to TikTok. TikTok also recently registered a trademark under the name TikTok Music and is supposedly speaking with record companies, furthering assumptions of its audio ambitions.

In some ways, it’s a natural next step for TikTok, as well as those who use the app. Some TikTokers use the platform to build up a following before launching a podcast. If TikTok has its own podcasting service, it sets itself up to land these podcasters on an exclusive basis.

From the entrepreneur or small business perspective, this could also be good. It will give you more marketing power, allowing you to advertise your company, product, or brand from one app via audio or video. Presently, TikTok has a billion monthly users, which is a lot of potential customers.
